Louis F. Menard, 84, of Kankakee, died Friday (Dec. 30, 2011) at Riverside Medical Center. A gathering time for family and friends will be from 10 a.m. Thursday until the 11 a.m. prayer service at Schreffler Life Story Funeral Homes, Kankakee Chapel.
Burial will follow the service at Maternity BVM Cemetery, Bourbonnais.
Mr. Menard was born Feb. 21, 1927, in Bourbonnais Township, the son of Hubert and Matilda (Odette) Menard. He was a groundskeeper for General Foods for 38 years, retiring in 1982. He proudly served our country as a member of the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was of the Catholic faith.
He was married April 11, 1953, in Kankakee, to Ruth Whitaker, who preceded him in death.
He is survived by one son, Ronald Menard, of Florida; one grandson, Ronald Menard Jr., of Kankakee; one brother Edmond Menard, of Clifton; and many nieces, nephew, and brothers- and sisters-in-law.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, the Rev. Wilfred Menard, Joseph Menard and Shirley Menard; and one sister Dorothy Miller.
