Lourdes Rios - Bourbonnais


Visitation for Lourdes Rios, 62, of Bourbonnais, was from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, at the Clancy-Gernon-Hertz Funeral Home, west Kankakee, where funeral services were held at 10 a.m. today, March 22. The Rev. Luis Aguilar officiated.

Burial was in Mound Grove Gardens of Memory, Kankakee. Memorials may be made to the family wishes. She died Tuesday (March 20, 2012) at Provena St. Mary's Hospital, Kankakee.

She was born Sept. 30, 1949, in Puerto Rico, the daughter of Juan Rios and Ana Rosa Cedeno Rodriguez. She was a deacon at John 3:16 Church of God in Kankakee, where she was very involved. She was in charge of decorating for special events at the church and enjoyed singing at church and being with her grandkids. She enjoyed people.

Surviving are three daughters and two sons-in-law, Minerva and Breck Hankison, of Florida, Marelyn Routson, and Miriam and Brett Barnes, all of Bourbonnais; seven grandchildren, Magan, Mandy, Madison, Marissa, Mason, Morgan and Robby; two great-grandchildren, Kevin and Bentley; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Ruth Robbins, of Bourbonnais, Rosa and Richard Wicker, of Bradley, and Evonne Rodriguez, of North Carolina; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Berto Rodriguez.
