Lucille M. DeMarah - Bourbonnais


Visitation for Lucille M. DeMarah, 99, of Bourbonnais, will be from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Bourbonnais. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at Maternity BVM Catholic Church, Bourbonnais.

Entombment will be in Mound Grove Gardens Mausoleum, Kankakee. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Kankakee Valley, Alzheimer's research or to Provena Heritage Lodge. She died Thursday (Dec. 15, 2011) at her home.

Mrs. DeMarah worked at Bear Brand Hosiery and St. Mary's Hospital. She was born May 18, 1912, in Bradley, the daughter of Benjamin and Agnes Brouillette Lamie. Her husband, Clifford C. DeMarah, whom she married Aug. 28, 1930, died Jan. 7, 1998. She was a seamstress and enjoyed knitting. She loved playing cards, especially Skip-Bo.

Surviving are one son, Kenneth M. DeMarah, of Kankakee; one daughter and son-in-law, Constance M. and Vincent Messier, of Bourbonnais; 15 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Bernadette Gladu, of Chico, Calif.; and two sisters-in-law, Beatrice Schlagter, of Wilmington, W.Va., and Muriel DeMarah, of Kankakee.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Brian; and two sisters, Nelda Roy and an infant sister.
