Lloyd A. McMeen Sr., 88, of Streator, died at 1:35 a.m. Tuesday April 7, 2009 at St. Mary’s Hospital.
Funeral services for Lloyd McMeen will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday April 11, 2009 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Streator. Rev. Daniel Stalker will officiate and also conduct graveside services at Riverview Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be David McMeen, Matthew McMeen, Bill Rhodes, Travis McMeen, Michael Blade and George McMullen.
Visitation for Lloyd McMeen will be Friday from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Elias Funeral Home.
Born August 30, 1920 in Rutland, Il, he was the son of Herman and Miriam (Hawk) McMeen. He married Evelyn L. Thomas on November 11, 1942, she died June 5, 1999.
He is survived by sons Lloyd (Sharon) McMeen Jr. of Streator, Louis (Cindy) McMeen of Dwight, daughter Mary Ann (Michael) Blade of Charlotte, NC, 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are Brother-in-Laws Robert Butcher of Oregon, Jack Thomas of Streator, Richard Thomas of Bloomington, IL and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by a son Daniel McMeen, a grandson, 8 brothers and 4 sisters.
Mr. McMeen was a Custodian for the Streator Elementary School District retiring in 1986.
He served in the United States Air Force during W.W. II.
He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Streator a member of the Lutheran Brotherhood and Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post # 217.
