Hayley A. Mitchell - Kankakee


Visitation for Hayley A. Mitchell, 11, of Kankakee, will be from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the Clancy-Gernon-Hertz Funeral Home, west Kankakee, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Pastor Dwight Ascher will officiate.

Burial will be in Kankakee Memorial Gardens, Aroma Township. Memorials may be made to the family wishes. She died Wednesday (Dec. 14, 2011) at Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago.

She was born June 16, 2000, in Kankakee, the daughter of Michael and Jill Erickson Mitchell. She was a junior ambassador for the Arthritis Foundation Inc.-Kankakee. She represented children with cancer for Children's Memorial Hospital at the Northwestern University's Cancer Survivor's Celebration & Walk. She was involved in the Kankakee Relay For Life and several other organizations. She loved her family and friends, animals, reading, listening to music, and doing arts and crafts. She lovedHello Kitty
 and American Girl dolls.

Surviving are her mother, Jill Mitchell, of Kankakee; her father, Michael Mitchell, of Momence; maternal grandparents, Robert and Cecilia Erickson, of Limestone; aunts, Kim and Dale Lehnus, of Bourbonnais, Julie and Dan Leopold, of Moline; several cousins, including Erica, Laura and Michelle Lehnus, Allison and Jacob Leopold, and Danielle Davis; and special godparents, Denise and Mark LaMore, and their son, Bryan, of Bourbonnais.

Her paternal grandparents are deceased.
