Clement V. Ikins - Onarga

Clement V. Ikins, 96, of Onarga, passed away at 1:30 a.m. Sunday (Dec. 18, 2011) at Prairieview Lutheran Home in Danforth. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. Wednesday until the 11:30 a.m. funeral services at the Knapp Funeral Home in Onarga. The Rev. Elizabeth Reis will officiate.

Burial will be in the Onarga Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Prairieview Lutheran Home, the Onarga United Methodist Church, Iroquois Memorial Hospice or to the donor's choice.

Mr. Ikins was a lifelong farmer in the Onarga area. He was born March 22, 1915, in rural Crescent Township, the son of Earl and Daisy Eisenhower Ikins. He was a graduate of Onarga High School, Onarga Military School and Gallagher Business College. He was past president of Eastern Illinois Power Cooperative, past president of the Association of Illinois Electric Cooperatives, and trustee of Grand Prairie Seminary and Haun Park. He was also a member of the Farm Bureau, Onarga Lions Club and the Onarga Methodist Church. He and his wife enjoyed spending their winters in Tucson, Ariz.

Surviving are his wife, the former Joyce Selleck, whom he married Feb. 1, 1939, in Buckley; one son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Marilyn Ikins, of Onarga; one daughter and son-in-law, Jeanne and Ron Hanna, of Rantoul; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Betty Place, of Clarendon Hills.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one great-grandchild.
