Jeffery A. "Jeff" Duffield, 49, of Kankakee, died Tuesday (Nov. 8, 2011) at the Riverside Medical Center emergency room. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Monday until the noon funeral service at Clancy-Gernon-Hertz Funeral Home, west Kankakee.
Interment will follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood. Memorials may be made to the family wishes.
Mr. Duffield was a career military man, retiring from the U.S. Marine Corps. While in the service, he earned the Rifle Sharpshooter Badge, Pistol Sharpshooter Badge, Good Conduct Medal and Letter of Appreciation. He was born Dec. 2, 1961, in Kankakee.
He was formerly a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, and he enjoyed golfing at Oak Springs Golf Club, bowling and watching Chicago sports, especially the Cubs and the Bears. Most of all, he enjoyed being with his family. He was lovingly known as "Mr. Jeffy" by many.
Surviving are his wife, the former Lisa L. Bowman, of Kankakee, whom he married Aug. 25, 1987; his mothers, Anna "Sue" Duffield and Charlene Swinford, both of Kankakee; two sons, Kevin Duffield and Ryan Duffield, both of Kankakee; one daughter, Brittany Duffield, of Kankakee; one sister and one brother-in-law, Debra and Kenneth Hertz, of Kankakee; and one brother and one sister-in-law, Kenneth and Karen Duffield, of Kankakee.
He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur L. Duffield.
