Earline "Sista" Jones, 70, of Kankakee, departed her life Monday (Nov. 7, 2011) at her home, surrounded by her family. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Saturday until the 11 a.m. funeral services at Lax Mortuary, which is in charge of arrangements. The Rev. Ronald Bartlett will officiate.
Burial will be in Mound Grove Gardens of Memory in Kankakee. Memorials can be made to the family wishes.
Ms. Jones moved to Kankakee in April 1968 and had various jobs prior to 1981, when she began working at Shapiro Developmental Center from which she retired in December 1999. She was born Oct. 2, 1941, in Clinton, Ky., the daughter of Bailey and Annie Lee Smith Hayes. She attended the Hickman County Public School District.
She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, niece, aunt, cousin and friend to everyone. She was always willing to help anyone that she could. She loved spending time with her family, watching "Wheel of Fortune," QVC and HSN shopping networks, and working in her puzzle books.
Surviving to cherish her memory are three daughters, Sheila Hayes, of Paducah, Ky., Margaret (Fodie) Hayes, of Kankakee, and Charlene Jones, of Milwaukee, Wis.; one son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Teresa (Shawnna) Jones, of Kankakee; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Bailey and Evalene Hayes, of Hickman, Ky., and Luther Hayes, of Kankakee; one aunt, Minnie Williams, of Kankakee; 20 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; special friend, Reno Dillard, of Kankakee; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Timothy Jones; two sisters, Geraldine Hayes and Betty Jo Wilson; one brother, George Ray Hayes; one nephew; and one niece.
